I thought I would get away for a short break up to Hoffman Estates, Illinois, as I am quite fascinated at this present time with trying to visit a lot of different places in Illinois. Hoffman Estates, Illinois is a nice size and really has a lot going on for a small city. Thus, I knew as soon as I entered this place that Hoffman Estates, Illinois was going to be an interesting time.
I arrived at about 6:30 p.m and quickly ate my burger and fries that I had gotten at the drive-thru at McDonald’s there. Then I decided that it was time to head over to Now Arena over on Prairie Stone Parkway. There were different sports games going on. I always liked to randomly drop by a sporting game at a sports arena. It is just something fun to do and cheer on teams I do not even know. I decided to watch some lacrosse. The players were awesome. The game was close, so I cheered on both teams. They were so fun to watch. I learned that the section of the arena where I was watching the lacrosse game had 9,400 seats. I actually had a pretty good view. And I loved the huge digital scoreboard. Moreover, I started chatting with a coach of one of the teams. The coach invited me to his office there. He had a pretty nice office that displayed lots of photos of his teams and several medals. He offered me some coffee and leftover pizza. I thanked him and took the pizza with me to eat later because I was still full from my burger and fries.
I felt like staying in a hotel which is why I arrived in the early evening. After the exciting lacrosse game, it was time to pick a great hotel. I like picking a hotel just as soon as I enter a city or town to have more of a spontaneous adventure instead of booking my hotel ahead online. I am glad that I stayed at the Comfort Inn on Barrington Road. The guest room was quite nice and comfortable. I turned on the large television and relaxed by watching some news and a funny game show as I indulged in some pizza from the coach I had met at the arena. I also liked the fact that the next morning I enjoyed a complimentary breakfast that included scrambled eggs, two cranberry muffins, tea, toast, blueberry jam, and fresh pear. That is quite a big breakfast for me. So I saved the cranberry muffins and pear to have for my lunch later. I realized that in the morning I would have to do a bit of work on my laptop. I am glad that the hotel offered free WIFI in my room. I also felt in the mood to work out and was able to take advantage of the free fitness center that they had on site.
After lunch, I headed over to the Forest Preserve of Cook County. I took a brisk jog around the trails, as I had brought my running shoes with me. A friendly elderly couple invited me to join their picnic. I had a piece of rhubarb and some crackers. Also, some kids were flying remote control airplanes, which was fun to watch. It was then time to head back home. I am glad I came to Hoffman Estates, as I felt truly relaxed and the people were so friendly.
