The physicians and therapists at Pain Therapy Associates understand your pain. They will work with you to eliminate it. In the process, you will learn healthier lifestyle choices that help reduce or eliminate your musculoskeletal pain and allow you to function more fully again.

Knee Pain

Genicular artery embolization is a new treatment for those with knee osteoarthritis. The genicular arteries are small arteries that supply the knee. These arteries can be embolized (blocked) using tiny beads to reduce excess blood flow to the synovium (lining of the knee). This process has been shown to reduce inflammation and pain due to osteoarthritis. This does NOT affect blood flow to the leg.

Shoulder Pain

Shoulder embolization is a procedure in which the physician inserts a catheter into the radial artery in the patient’s wrist and advances the catheter to the shoulder. An examination is done to identify abnormally enlarged vessels. These abnormal vessels are embolized (blocked) using tiny beads to reduce excess blood flow to the shoulder. This ultimately reduces inflammation and can improve pain. This does NOT affect blood flow to the arm.

Enlarged Prostate

Prostatic Artery Embolization (PAE) is a cutting-edge procedure performed to help improve urinary symptoms caused by an enlarged prostate without the risk of sexual side effects. Prostatic artery embolization is performed by inserting a catheter into an artery in the leg.

Uterine Fibroid Embolization

Uterine fibroid embolization is a minimally invasive alternative to hysterectomy or myomectomy. In this procedure, our physician inserts a catheter into an artery in the groin and advances toward the blood vessels that supply the fibroid tumor. These vessels are embolized (blocked) using tiny beads, which ultimately reduces the size of the fibroid tumors.

Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoid embolization is a treatment for internal hemorrhoids that offers long-lasting relief from rectal bleeding. Hemorrhoids form when abnormal connections are made between arteries and veins in the rectum. Embolization works by blocking these abnormal blood vessel connections, which eliminates the bleeding.
