A Visit to Streamwood IllinoisSome friends of mine came to stay with me for a few days. On the last day of their visit, I suggested that we take a trip up to Streamwood, Illinois. They accepted my offer, and we had a great chat about our childhood days on the ride up to Streamwood, Illinois.

Hoosier Grove Park

Hoosier Grove Park is a large community park that is kept in pristine condition, which is what added to our enjoyment of this place. We were compelled to throw around a softball and play some catch for a while. Also, we enjoyed having some pictures taken at the nicely constructed gazebo. Moreover, we had a quick lunch of some hot pogo dogs, chili, fries, and huge milkshakes at some convenient picnic benches there due to a food truck selling some amazing food. Some kids were flying some kites. One boy’s father, who recognized me from a job we had together in another city formerly, invited me over to fly a kite with them, as they had brought an extra one with them. Therefore, my friends and I took some turns flying the kite. It was nice to catch up with this old work colleague.

Hoosier Grove Museum

While we were at the park, it made sense to also visit the Hoosier Grove Museum there at the park, which is a schoolhouse that had been constructed back in the year of 1904. For being such an old schoolhouse, the condition of the building was excellent. There were some interesting artifacts, and the interactive displays were intriguing. We learned more about the fascinating town life during the early days of Streamwood, Illinois.

Arthur L. Janura Preserve

The Arthur L. Janura Preserve presents a wonderful piece of nature that is home to a remnant of woodland that has many mature goals that are about three centuries old. There are prairies that have been restored, there is open water that is beautiful, and there are several wetlands. The color of the prairies is undeniably breathtaking, with many different types of wildflowers, such as cone flowers and others. Also, in the woodland area of the preserve, we noticed some red trillium and wild hyacinth. Then there is a trail that surrounds the preserve, so my friends and I decided to take a brisk jog for a while.

Bode Lake

We enjoyed a thrilling time at the gorgeous Bode Lake that is so picturesque. There are many mature trees. We noticed some wild geese there enjoying a swim. Some people were walking their dogs around the lake. There was also a herd of deer nearby, which was truly spectacular. We met a lonely old man who was there fishing. He told us that his wife had passed away a month ago, so he went to the lake to fish for the sake of not having to sit alone in his empty house. He had caught some northern pike, some channel catfish, and some large-mouth bass. He offered us some fish. We started the fire for a small grill he had brought along. He told us after we ate the tasty fish that we could roast some marshmallows on his grill, as he had some skewers and marshmallows in his hiking bag. It was a pleasurable time eating and talking with the friendly old man who thanked us for making his day a little less lonely. We are glad that we could help.
